earthship homes
I’m interested in building an earthship home. Does anyone know a contractor that might help?
An earthship home is a self-sustaining building (www.earthship.org) and I was wondering if anyone knows of someone in Ontario who might help me build one. Thanks!
This is not the type of structure one contracts to get built unless you live in Arizona or New Mexico. And then maybe not even there. An earth-ship is the type of structure that could be difficult to pass code where you live and so no contractor would touch it. Your best bet, if you looking for ‘help’ building one is to hire some local hardworking youths to help you with the ramming of the tires and such. Then hire out for the electrical and plumbing if you need to. In other words, be your own contractor. I don’t know how much your capable of doing, but this is the type of building project you have to study up well on and get creative with. I would love to help you myself if you wouldn’t mind flying me out there from Switzerland, but getting some local kids on summer break would be a lot cheaper for you. If you haven’t already discovered Real Goods they are a good source of info and products to assist you in this endeavor. Then there is Chelsea Green Publishing Company probably has some books on earth-ships. I know I have info on them from my Real Goods books which are published by them.
