Sun lights BTU value per day per square feet. What is it?
I’m planning to building a solar panel to heat water. What is the BTU value of sun light, how fast will it heat the fluid in the solar panel. The solar panel is insulated so outside Temperature does not matter, only the heat of the sun. The interior of the solar panel is Black to change sunlight to heat and absorb the heat form the sun.
How does sunlight BTU’s compare to heating oil BTU’s?

Your value for “the BTU value fo sun light” could vary between 1200 BTU/m^2/hr for someplace that gets a lot of sun near the equator (say the Sahara desert), to 350 BTU/m^2/hr for someplace that gets very little sun (say Siberia). Your output also going to vary based on the time of the day, weather, and the season.
Are you using this for just hot water, or are you going to use it for heat also? What are you planing to use for a backup incase there isn’t any sun?
