n the Val di Cecina, in Larderello, historic site of the production of electricity from geothermal sources, on August 12 2008 the first photovoltaic plant was activated .
The plant was installed in via Matteotti 27 – Montecerboli, in the townhall of Pomarance on the coverage level of the seat of the Circle Arci “Primo Maggio”, a non-profit organization that has decided for a distinctive choice through the production of ecological energy, focusing on renewable energy supplied free by the sun.
The president pro tempore, Ilvo Cerri, has implemented locally a national requirement, which has become increasingly current to meet the energy crisis of our country and its foreign debt by imposing ecological choices in consumption and in the management of its service.
The photovoltaic plant is intended to produce over 7,500 kwh per year, with an installed capacity of nearly 6 kWp, helping to reduce the emission of CO2 in the atmosphere of 5355 kg per year and 1.8 TEP / year (tonnes of oil equivalent), which in 20 years are 107 ton. of CO2 and 36.5 TEP, as well as to meet the domestic consumption of the Circle Arci “Primo Maggio”, which brings the cost of their annual bill to zero.
The plant consists of 27 modules in photovoltaic polycrystalline silicon at 215 watts, and a group of conversion from direct to alternating current, and was built by the Florentine company Eluxenia Srl (website www.eluxenia.com), and performed under the direction of the architect. Francesco Ceravolo on the project’s technical manager Ing. Tommaso Baragli.
