solar water installation

Adding additional insulation to your home is a manageable do it yourself project for you and your family. If you are spending more than what is average in your area on utility bills, you are undoubtedly a good candidate for this project. In just one day, you can insulate your attic, windows, doors, and hot water piping.
Every attic should have a minimum of 15.5 inches of fiberglass roll. If working in an attic that has no pre-existing insulation, purchase a fiberglass roll product with a vapor retard to help keep moisture out. Roll the fiberglass roll out between the joist cavities. Add a second layer if the layer does not meet the 15.5 inch minimum. To add additional insulation, use a unfaced fiberglass product and unroll it perpendicular to the first layer. Be sure to leave three inches between the fiberglass and any device that produces heat.
Many companies make kits for both windows and doors. First, check your windows and doors for impairments to old air sealing. If insufficient of defective materials exist in either your doors or windows, purchase one of these simple kits. Doors and windows are to be outfitted with weatherstripping to reduce air leakage. Many windows receive an additional measure. Window insulation kits often include plastic sheeting and double sided tape, used to create an additional barrier. Doors and windows are often a large source of energy loss in the home, and your investments in proper insulation may easily pay for itself in the first year.
Insulating copper hot water pipes with fiberglass wrap is an easy way to save both energy and water. Copper piping gives off a tremendous amount of heat, and that fact is one of the reasons you often wait so long for hot water to come out of your showers and sinks. Copper pipe insulation will make a noticeable difference in your water and energy bills.
Installing insulation is smart investment that will easily pay for itself multiple times throughout the life of your home. This is one part of the occasion, but behavior of the house occupants is the other. There are many simple steps that can be taken to dramatically reduce the amount of energy and water consumed in the home. Educated occupants living in a well insulated home will have a smaller impact on the planet–and save some money in the process.
