Small solar panels for home use are creating quite a stir lately. A lot of people are getting attracted to it because they promise to help slash off electric bills by half. But beyond that, only a few people know/ realize what they really are.

How will you know if your location is good for small solar panels for home use?
As long as you have a lot of sun in your place, you are good to go. Yes, you can use the system in cloudy areas too but they may not be as efficient compared to those that are installed in sunny areas.
Where can you install your solar panels?
Ideally, they should be installed on roofs facing the southern sky because that is where they are going to get a lot of sun. But if roof installation is not possible or is prohibited by your home owner’s association you can have them be installed in the backyard as well.
How many solar panels do you need?
It all depends on your consumption. To give yourself an idea, you can compute this by multiplying you’re your kilowatt consumption per hour with 0.25. The result will be approximate solar array you would need to supply the electricity you need in your home.
If you want, you can get a system that can supply more power than you need so that you can get to store some of the extra electricity in batteries that you can use during power outage.
