timber framed house
construction studies brief???? how would i type one up with following details??
i need to write one for my project (a chimney going up through a timber frame house) listing aims, conclusions, to demonstrate, research and investigation, evaluation and conclusions
A perennial problem how to have a fire going in a timber house without burning it down.
You need to identify the functional requirements – providing heat and cooking without endangering the flammmable building. You also want to let the smoke out without letting the rain in. You need to be able to clean the flue – a smoke door on an outside wall far better than doing it from inside. An unswept chimney is a fire risk.
Then there different systems – solid fuel, gas, open or closed systems like stoves, ones that include water boliers. Check out the British Standards for some of the background. Other performance issue include how you stop a slender structure toppling – yuo need to size it properly and how to make sure it draws properlyso as not to fill the room with smoke (hard to imagine the first houses just had a hole in the roof).
